My Experience with a Tambour Hook Haute Couture or Gold-work Embroidery

Recently, I had the opportunity to take part in a goldwork embroidery course. It was an incredibly rewarding and thoroughly inspiring experience.

The teaching stood out from the very start. Our tutor was knowledgeable and brought enthusiasm and patience to each class, which made learning this new craft approachable and a true joy. Something that made attending this course invaluable was having each technique demonstrated clearly and having the chance to ask questions and receive feedback as we were taking our first steps in practicing those techniques ourselves.

Small Class Size, Big Benefits

Something else I truly appreciated was the small size of the class. It struck the perfect balance between being intimate enough for one-on-one support and yet large enough that when others were getting help, I had the time to practice new stitches at my own pace. Sharing the space with friendly and creative people created a lovely group dynamic and made the experience even more enjoyable.

Learning at the Right Pace

Ever tried picking up a new skill but the pace of teaching left you feeling rushed and uncertain? This experience was the opposite of that. The pace was flexible and instead of following a strict lesson plan, the sessions felt tailored to the group's learning speed. This approach took away that pressure and made it so much easier to build confidence with each new stitch. Having a new technique demonstrated live, being able to practice that technique straight away, and having new techniques build on the previous ones step by step was the perfect framework to learn in.

Starting a Creative Journey

I left the course feeling inspired and well prepared to continue exploring goldwork embroidery on my own. In fact, I may have bought some supplies almost immediately after the final class! Seeing in person what can be achieved with years of experience gave me a sense of what's possible and I'm excited to continue developing my skills.

This course has been the perfect starting point for my journey through more elaborate embroidery and I'd love to join another workshop in future.

For anyone considering learning goldwork embroidery themselves, I can't recommend this course enough. Whether you're completely new to it like I was, or looking to refine your skills, a course that is as hands-on and supportive as this one can make all the difference.
