What is Remode Collective?
Remode Collective is a Community Interest Company (CIC) focused on sewing education, textile reuse, and reducing fabric waste. We run workshops and courses that help people build practical sewing skills while supporting sustainability and employability.
Where are you based?
We are based in Edinburgh/ Out of the Blue Drill Hall and also deliver workshops in partner venues across the region.

Who are your courses for?
Our workshops are suitable for complete beginners through to more experienced sewists. We also offer community-focused activities, including free courses for those in need, as well as volunteering opportunities.
Do I need my own sewing machine?
No — sewing machines are provided in our classes. If you prefer, you are welcome to bring your own machine; please let us know ahead of the class.
What materials do I need to bring?
This depends on the course. In most cases, we provide core tools and donated low-cost fabrics. You may be asked to bring fabric or basic haberdashery items, and full details are always included in the class description.
Are your workshops suitable for beginners?
Yes. We run structured beginner-friendly classes as well as more advanced workshops for skill building and refinement.
How do I book a place?
Bookings are usually made through our website. Spaces are limited, so early booking is recommended.
Do you offer private lessons or group bookings?
Yes, we can offer private tuition and group workshops. Please contact us directly to discuss your needs, dates, and pricing.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for at least 10 days’ notice if you need to cancel. You can cancel your booking and request a refund directly through the booking site.
Do you sell finished products?
No — our focus is on education, skills development, and community learning rather than retail sales.
How does Remode Collective support sustainability?
We promote fabric reuse, repair skills, and mindful making. Many of our workshops encourage participants to use offcuts, donated textiles, and existing garments to reduce textile waste.
